This page was made some time ago and may contain information which is now out of date

This year’s poets, novelists and playwrights were chosen from nearly 200 applicants, and will be supported for one year by three successful and established writers – playwright Tim Crouch, poet Pascale Petit and novelist Jacob Ross.

The mentees for 2017/18 are:

Fiction: Jo Clayton, Martin Kidd, Jemma Picken, Abbie Salter
Playwriting: Rachel Burns, Maeve Clarke, Russ Davies, Laurie Ogden
Poetry: Romalyn Ante, Alice Hiller, Seraphima Kennedy, Yvonne Reddick

Over the next 18 months the mentees will receive: mentoring support;  two week-long writing retreats at an Arvon centre; advice sessions with industry experts; inclusion in an edited anthology of works; and a live showcase at Free Word Centre in London

The Jerwood/Arvon Mentoring Programme was set up in 2008 to support the development of new writers. It is open to anyone who has attended an Arvon course in the previous two years. This unique opportunity offers twelve writers the chance to be guided for one year by three successful and established writers in the categories of Poetry, Fiction and Playwriting. The programme is designed for those interested in developing both their writing and professional practice, who have a clear idea of what they would like to achieve over a one-year period.

The programme realises both Jerwood Charitable Foundation and Arvon’s vision to nurture new artistic talent through dedicated professional support, over a sustained period of time.
