Adam Carver

Adam Carver is a creative producer, performance artist, and queer activist. They develop socially engaged projects which use performance in diverse contexts to think about queerness, community, care, and making change, with a distinct Midlands voice.

Their recent projects have focused on developing pioneering queer positive performance work for children’s and outdoor audiences, including ‘Fantabulosa’, a drag show for kids. From 2016-2020 Adam was the producer & programmer for SHOUT, the UK’s largest queer art festival. They are currently developing ‘PALAVER’, a two-year development programme with Cambridge Junction supporting artists and organisations to develop new queer positive performance work for children and family audiences.

This bursary will fund professional development time and mentorship towards them building a sustainable socially-engaged queer activist creative practice based in the Midlands, developing strategies for working collaboratively with queer artists and communities, and providing support, resource, and advocacy for queer communities to the wider sector.
