Jo Hauge

Jo Hauge is a trans and neurodiverse live artist based in Glasgow. They make performances that embrace overwhelm, clumsiness and poor impulse control.

They are also interested in cringe, fanfiction, trans joy and things that get a bad rep because teenage girls like them. They are currently making a performance series under the umbrella THE @TORVILL&DEAN69 PROJECT, exploring neurodiversity, fandom and pleasure. Development for this began during their 2019 Starter Residency at National Theatre of Scotland.

The Live Work Fund will enable Jo to develop a sustainable, accessible, and specifically neurodiverse practice. They will investigate how fandom and fannish practices can be used as a methodology in neurodiverse performance practice, to create a sense of pleasure-focused permissiveness when making work. They will also invite a group of neurodivergent artists to explore these new processes. Jo will be developing skills in sound through mentor-based learning to help their professional development as their work becomes increasingly sound based.
