Munotida Chinyanga

Munotida Chinyanga is an anti-disciplinary practitioner creating work primarily through direction and sound design.

Her practice investigates how performance and sonic art can facilitate bringing together communities, especially in environments that do not have a constant connection to the arts, mediating dialogue that is cross cultural creating both sonic and performative experiences for audiences. Munotida has worked at venues/institutions such as the Young Vic, the Gate Theatre, Royal Exchange Manchester, National Theatre of Rome and, YIYUAN TANG Museum, China, supported by UKNA.

The Live Work Fund will enable Munotida to experiment with ways to empower audiences to become active spectators and contribute to the creative process. By facilitating Europe-wide connections between countries, disciplines and artists, Munotida will encourage participation across diverse and inclusive artistic communities. Throughout 2021 and beyond she will be creating an interactive digital space to build new ways of learning through exchange and peer-led communication.
