Sophie Hoyle

Sophie Hoyle is an artist and writer whose practice explores an intersectional approach to post-colonial, queer, feminist, critical psychiatry and disability issues.

Recent projects and exhibitions include Psychic Refuge, an R&D commission by Unlimited and Forma, Gelatine Festival at La Casa Encendida, screening at Editorial, Vilnius (2020), Still I Rise: Act 3 at Arnolfini, Bristol, Friday Late: On Edge: Living in An Age of Anxiety at Science Gallery London, ARMB Shortlist Exhibition, BALTIC 39, Newcastle, Beyond the Perfect Image, Wellcome Collection, and the Shape Arts ARMB Bursary with BALTIC Contemporary (2019).

They aim to use the Jerwood Bursary to explore and expand on biohacking as part of their practice, in relation to questions of healthcare inequalities and building alternative communities of knowledge.
