Harriet leads our curatorial and leadership development programme Jerwood Curatorial Accelerator and is Project Director for the third edition of major national touring exhibition Jerwood Survey. She originally joined Jerwood Arts in 2018 as Head of Visual Arts, responsible for developing our work in this area and curating the exhibitions programme in London and on tour across the UK.
Since 2023 Harriet has been working as an independent curator, mentor, writer and advisor. She is particularly interested in supporting early-career artists and curators to develop new work, considering the conditions and care that create the best environment for this. Harriet is a member of the Arts Council Collection Acquisitions Committee 2022-2024, the Wales in Venice Advisory Committee 2020-2024, and was recently awarded the International Curators Residency Award at Fire Station Artists’ Studios in Dublin.
Born in Manchester and currently based on the North Coast of Kent, Harriet is passionate about collaborating with artists and organisations across the whole breath of the UK. She has previously held roles at Firstsite in Colchester, the British Council in London, Yorkshire Sculpture Park in Wakefield, Tate Liverpool and The Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester. In 2017 she was co-curator of Phyllida Barlow’s commission folly for the British Pavilion at the 57th Venice Biennale.
