Jerwood Solo Presentations

An annual commissioning initiative creating a platform for early-career artists to have their first major solo presentation in London.

Jerwood Solo Presentations showcases new commissions by early-career artists in three concurrent solo presentations at Jerwood Space in London. It supports UK-based artists who are within the first ten years of beginning their practice with a fully resourced opportunity to develop a significant new commission at a pivotal moment in their career.

The initiative seeks to support artists to develop ambitious new work by providing financial and curatorial support over a 6-month period. It awards artists with a fee, a production budget, a self-directed development budget, a high-profile exhibition and substantial curatorial support from Jerwood Arts. Artists are selected by Jerwood Arts for the high quality of their work to date and are identified as being at a crucial point in their thinking.

Jerwood Solo Presentations was initiated in 2016 to create a much-needed platform for early-career artists to make and show new work on their own terms. Artists are supported to create work that further develops their own research and practice, without a need to fit into a prescribed curatorial theme. The resulting exhibition creates a unique space for conversation and experimentation, across and between disciplines.
